Engineering services and technology solutions provider AWTG LTD will showcase its latest advancements in 5G and 6G technologies as a leading partner in the SCONDA (Small Cells ORAN in Dense Areas) consortium at the 2025 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.

The SCONDA consortium comprises Three, Mavenir, Freshwave Group, PI Works, University of Surrey, University of Glasgow, and Accenture and is led by AWTG.

SCONDA focuses on addressing the commercial and technical challenges associated with the deployment of Open RAN and 5G in locations of high-density demand. Part of the Open Network Ecosystem Competition, SCONDA is the first initiative integrating Open RAN and Traditional RAN technologies in densely populated areas.

At Hall 7, Stand 7D67, AWTG will present its the SCONDA initiative, highlight key initiatives and new developments. It has also been announced that the SCONDA programme is to implement the world’s first Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) in a High Density Demand environment, specifically, Glasgow city centre, in work carried out for major mobile network operator Three.

The new O-RAN technology is fully integrated with Three’s existing 4G and 5G networks, and aims to improve connectivity and ensure effective compatibility.

AWTG will demonstrate its Open RAN products, including its Hybrid RAN solutions at 2025’s MWC event. The solutions have been designed so network operators can integrate their networks with private enterprise networks.

Another member of the AWTG Mobile Private Network stable is FlexRAN, which lets different industries and organisations establish private mobile networks. FlexRAN networks can be integrated into private IT systems and operational frameworks, improving overall control and efficiency.

AWTG will also present its advanced RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC), showcasing a range of features that work to enhance user experiences and 5G network performances. According to AWTG, RIC “provides seamless mobility and robust configuration management, ensuring consistent and efficient network operations.”

In addition to the demonstrations, AWTG will showcase a portfolio of innovative technologies, including AI advancements for its solutions, and fully immersive VR experiences.
