In terms of materials, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will likely rely on the familiar Armor Aluminum/Gorilla Glass Victus 2 sandwich, just as before. Expect mostly a flat aesthetic, as is the trend right now.
In terms of colors, we don’t know what hues are coming just yet, but we are certain that the Z Flip 8 will have the livelier set of colors.
Display Differences
Neither the Galaxy Z Fold 8 nor the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will score any major display spec changes. This means the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will continue to rely on a 6.5-inch external and an 8.0-inch internal screen, just like its predecessor. Conversely, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will also retain its 6.9-inch inner and 4.1-inch external cover screens.
One major change that could be introduced to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a dual-UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) structure, which would make the inner display more robust and would reportedly further reduce the crease by another 20%. There’s always room for improvement with display creases, so we are welcoming that with open hands.
Will the Galaxy Z Flip 8 also adopt such a dual-UTG assembly? Probably, but likely not. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the proper foldable flagship that gets all the fun upgrades first, so we think the feature will marinate for a year before hitting the Z Flip line in the future.

We expect relatively thin bezels and excellent display properties on both devices.
Both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will likely retain the capacitive fingerprint scanners positioned in their power buttons.
Performance and Software
Exynos for me but not for thee
Would that chip find its way into the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8? The potential is there, of course, but if Samsung opts against that, there’s a trove of Qualcomm chips ready to take the place. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is a very decent flagship chip, while the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is even better-performing.

We will likely get 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM in both phones, paired with 256 or 512GB of UFS 4,0 storage. A bit decadent during this global shortage of RAM and NAND chips, don’t you think?
Both phones will be updated for seven years.
Camera
No changes, but there should be
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 will most certainly come with a triple camera, like the Z Fold 7, with a 200MP wide, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 10MP 3X telephoto. We don’t really see Samsung moving away from that versatile setup, which works well but not great.
Then again, you don’t buy a foldable for the camera. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 will also likely continue to rely on a dual-camera setup, with a 50MP wide and a 12MP ultrawide camera. It’s not a particularly impressive camera array, but does the job for general photography, plus you probably won’t be considering the Galaxy Z Flip 8 if you’re

Battery Life and Charging
Possibly not much going on in terms of upgrades
Samsung and battery sizes, we meet again!
We don’t really anticipate the Galaxy Z Fold 8 or the Galaxy Z Flip 8 to score much larger batteries than their predecessors. This means the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Flip 8 will both likely score a battery in the ballpark of 4,400 mAh, or slightly more.

Charging-wise, we don’t expect any sudden moves. Both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Flip 8 will likely score 25 W wired charging and 15 W wireless charging. We expect Samsung to consider adding Qi2 magnets at the back for a MagSafe-like quality-of-life upgrade.

Summary
Both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Flip 8 have a pretty hard task ahead of them, and it’s the foldable iPhone that’s coming our way.
However, given that Samsung is in pretty good shape in the foldable market, and even if they don’t score many changes, both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will probably have the upper hand. That’s because Samsung’s foldable phone lineup is already more mature, so it has the advantage for now.
